The Turkey residence permit fee calculator works out the residence permit fee you need to pay under the 2026 tariff, based on your nationality and the residence period you request. The fee is set in US dollars country by country; the calculator converts it into Turkish lira at the current exchange rate and adds the 964 TL card fee that everyone pays, showing the total including family members.
What is the residence permit fee?
The residence permit fee is the statutory charge foreign nationals pay when they obtain or extend a residence permit in Turkey (officially Türkiye), and it varies by nationality and permit duration. It is calculated from a higher amount for the first month and a lower amount for each following month. On top of the fee, a 964 TL residence permit card fee is charged to each applicant; citizens of fee-exempt countries also pay the card fee.
How is the residence permit fee calculated?
The calculator works with four inputs: nationality, duration (1–24 months), number of people and the USD/TL exchange rate. The rate is filled in automatically from Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) data; you can change it manually if you wish.
Fee (USD) = first-month fee + (number of months − 1) × following-month fee
- Fee (TL): fee (USD) × USD/TL rate
- Total per person: fee (TL) + 964 TL card fee
- Grand total: total per person × number of people
- Fee-exempt countries: the fee is 0; only the 964 TL card fee is paid

Sample residence permit fee calculations
If a German citizen (Group A) applies for a 12-month short-term residence permit, the fee is 25 + 11 × 5 = 80 USD, plus a card fee of 964 TL. The table below shows different scenarios using a hypothetical exchange rate of 1 USD = 42 TL, for illustration only:
| Scenario | Fee (USD) | Fee (TL) | Card fee | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Group A, 1 person, 12 months | 80 | 3,360 TL | 964 TL | 4,324 TL |
| Group A, 1 person, 24 months | 140 | 5,880 TL | 964 TL | 6,844 TL |
| Group D (Russia), 1 person, 12 months | 23.5 | 987 TL | 964 TL | 1,951 TL |
| Group A, family of 3, 12 months | 240 | 10,080 TL | 2,892 TL | 12,972 TL |
| Exempt country, 1 person, 12 months | 0 | 0 TL | 964 TL | 964 TL |
As these Turkey residence permit fee results show, the monthly cost falls as the duration gets longer, because the higher first-month fee is charged only once. The actual TL amount depends on the exchange rate on the payment date.
A short-term residence permit can be granted for a maximum of 2 years at a time and a family residence permit for a maximum of 3 years; the calculator works for up to 24 months. The fee and card fee payment receipts are part of your application file and are taken to your appointment at the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
An extension application must be made before the permit expires; you can apply from 60 days before the expiry date. If your permit has expired, an overstay fine may arise. Fee exemptions may exist for some residence types and special statuses. For the exact amount, the current tariff of the Presidency of Migration Management (PMM) prevails.
